Founded in 2018 by JBL veterans, Kali Audio produces measurement-focused studio monitors with exceptional cost-performance, including the acclaimed LP-6 V2 and innovative coaxial IN-8 V2 series.

Overview

Kali Audio was launched in January 2018 by a team of former JBL Professional staff, including Director of Acoustics Charles Sprinkle and Director of Marketing Nate Baglyos, and is based in the Los Angeles area with demos offered at their Burbank HQ. The company’s lines include the Lone Pine (LP) 2-way series, the Independence (IN) 3-way coaxial series, and the Santa Monica (SM) series, all named after California locations. The debut LP-6 quickly earned recognition for accuracy and value in the project-studio market. [3][4][15][16]

Third-party Klippel NFS data support Kali’s measurement-first approach. LP-6 V2: on-axis linearity ±2.51/+1.99 dB; anechoic extension to ~50 Hz with F3 ≤ 42 Hz; harmonic distortion stays below ~3 % under ~1.7 kHz at 96 dB/1 m; horizontal directivity is smooth. IN-8 V2: 3-way coaxial (4-inch mid + 1-inch tweeter) with controlled vertical directivity; recommended listening slightly off-axis (±10-20°) to align with the intended response; limiter behavior appears above ~96 dB/1 m as expected for near/mid-field use. The IN-series’ coaxial mid/tweeter is a notable engineering choice in this price band, and boundary-EQ/DSP across lines reflects solid system integration. Advice

For tight budgets and typical home/project studios, LP-6 V2 (~249 USD each; 498 USD/pair) is an objectively strong entry point. For deeper bass or larger rooms, consider LP-8 V2 (299 USD each). If your workflow benefits from coaxial directivity and mid clarity, IN-8 V2 (499 USD each; 998 USD/pair) offers one of the most technically coherent packages near its price. Optimize placement (toe-in/off-axis) per measurements, and treat early reflections to realize the measured advantages. [11][6]
