A portable battery-powered DAC/headphone amplifier with low manufacturer-specified distortion and noise figures. Cheaper bus-powered alternatives have excellent third-party measurements, but they do not match the Q11's battery autonomy and output capability. Integrating these parts with battery management and software control is competent and appropriate for the category, but it does not establish a durable technical barrier or advanced computer, cloud, or AI integration. Both are therefore below the Q11’s 13-hour battery requirement, irrespective of their other functions or output capability.

This functional integration and use of general-purpose components direct cost toward measurable output capability and battery autonomy, giving the product a clear reason to exist.

FiiO also uses subjective marketing phrases such as “no compromises” and “meticulously-tuned package” [1]. Those phrases add no credit, but the score does not depend on whether independent measurements are publicly available; it rests on the rationality of the integrated functions and cost allocation. That supports a 0.7 score.

Advice

For users who specifically need battery-powered portable amplification with 4.4mm balanced output — to avoid depleting phone battery when driving demanding headphones over extended sessions — the Q11’s 650mW balanced output at 32Ω and approximately 13-hour battery life address a genuine requirement that bus-powered dongles cannot satisfy.

However, two factors weigh against purchasing at the 113.52 USD reference price. First, the Fosi Audio DS2 is 59.99 USD, 53.53 USD less, and has independently verified low distortion and noise under the ASR test conditions [3][4]. Those results are not directly comparable to the Q11’s differently conditioned manufacturer data, and the DS2 lacks a battery and has much lower 32Ω balanced output, but it is a rational lower-cost choice for users who do not need those functions.
