An IEM brand with in-house acoustic development and published frequency-response measurements. Jupiter offers useful bundled digital functions, while Venus and Neptune face cheaper alternatives; distortion and isolation evidence remains limited.

Overview

Melody Wings is an IEM brand based in Zhangzhou, China, according to its company profile [6]. Its current catalog covers Jupiter, Venus, Neptune, and the Venus Divine limited edition [5], plus a separately listed Venus cable and an IEM carrying case [18]. The manufacturer describes an in-house acoustic/structural development team and a measurement-equipped development process [4]. Venus Divine changes the faceplate and logo; the three underlying product families therefore provide the representative coverage used here [6].

Scientific Validity

\[\Large \text{0.6}\]

Aftersound publishes independent frequency-response measurements for Jupiter, Venus and Neptune [9]. Their displayed left/right-average curves give estimated standard deviations of error against the displayed Harman Target of approximately 1.75dB, 1.81dB and 1.46dB respectively. These estimates were calculated over 20Hz–10kHz at 481 logarithmically spaced frequencies, using the displayed Smooth 5 setting and removing the mean level error. They are calculations from plotted curves, not laboratory-published statistics. The target version and measurement rig are not identified on the graph, and the site’s warning about insertion-related resonance around 8kHz limits precision.

The lineup therefore has reasonably good target alignment, with audible tonal differences: Jupiter and Venus emphasize the region around 5kHz, while Neptune has a flatter lower midrange and a dip around 6kHz. The manufacturer’s Jupiter and Venus plots also show elevated bass and upper-mid/treble output [7][8]. Acoustic THD/IMD and quantified passive isolation remain unverified for all three models, as do independently measured noise/distortion results for their USB cables. The available response evidence supports the assessment, but does not establish complete fidelity across these other indicators.

Technology Level

\[\Large \text{0.5}\]

The manufacturer describes its own structural/acoustic team, including a senior engineer with more than ten years of acoustic-structure experience, alongside 3D scanning and modeling, HeyGears printing equipment, and LISTEN SoundCheck testing [4]. The reported experience and iterative acoustic development support accumulated design know-how. This team supports in-house acoustic and structural design. Neptune adds a developed venting arrangement, while Jupiter and Venus combine detachable earphones with USB conversion [3][7][8].

The underlying driver, crossover, resin-printing and USB-DAC technologies are mature and widely accessible. No identified patent or documented implementation establishes a durable technical barrier for competitors. The published development capability is credible evidence of engineering work, but does not demonstrate unusually advanced integration or an exclusive manufacturing process.

Cost-Performance

This site evaluates based solely on functionality and measured performance values, without considering driver types or configurations.

Jupiter, standard Venus and Neptune receive equal one-third weights because they cover the three core functional tiers and no public sales mix supports a different weighting. Venus Divine is an exterior variant of the Venus family [6]. The separately listed Venus cable is represented by the Venus package’s connection functions, avoiding double-counting; the carrying case serves storage rather than audio reproduction [7][18]. Prices below are current regular US-market prices, excluding temporary discounts [1][2][3][10][12][14][15]. The alternative-bundle totals assume Linsoul’s advertised free standard shipping and Best Buy pickup; destination-specific additional charges are excluded [10][12][14].

The acoustic comparator for Venus and Neptune is the original 7Hz Salnotes Zero, with detachable 0.78mm 2-pin connections and a supplied 3.5mm cable [10]. Its estimated Harman-error STD from Aftersound’s curves is 1.36dB under the same calculation conditions used above, versus 1.81dB for Venus and 1.46dB for Neptune [9]. Audio Science Review’s percentage-THD graph also shows distortion generally below approximately 0.1% at 94dB SPL, with a localized resonance around 1kHz [11]. These results support it as a provisional equal-or-better acoustic alternative. Target distortion and isolation remain unverified, so the comparison does not establish equivalence in every unreported metric.

Jupiter (78.00 USD): Its manufacturer specifies USB-C 32-bit/384kHz decoding, MQA full decoding, microphone and volume controls [8]. NICEHCK SP4 does not specify MQA support [13]. The separately sold Hidizs ST2 Pro USB-C cable specifies MQA playback and microphone/control functions, but its regular price is 79.99 USD; adding Salnotes Zero makes 100.98 USD [10][15]. Among the currently verified configurations covering these functions, Jupiter is the least expensive, giving it CP 1.0. The MQA capability remains a manufacturer claim rather than an independently tested result.

Venus (168.00 USD): Salnotes Zero (20.99 USD), MOONDROP OldFashioned cable in its 4.4mm/0.78mm 2-pin version (9.99 USD) and Apple’s USB-C to 3.5mm adapter (9.00 USD) total 39.98 USD [10][12][14]. The stock cable supplies 3.5mm, the OldFashioned cable supplies 4.4mm, and the Apple adapter supplies USB-C audio [17]. Venus does not specify Jupiter’s microphone, remote or MQA functions [7]. This bundle reproduces the documented connection options, although changing cables is less convenient than changing only a plug. The cable is orderable with an estimated 7–10-day preorder lead time [12]. CP = 39.98 USD ÷ 168.00 USD = 0.2380, rounded to 0.2.

Neptune (328.00 USD): Salnotes Zero plus the same OldFashioned cable provides the required 3.5mm/4.4mm connections for 30.98 USD [10][12]. On the available acoustic evidence and matching wired functions, the provisional calculation is CP = 30.98 USD ÷ 328.00 USD = 0.0945, rounded to 0.1.

Using the unrounded ratios, the company result is (1.0 + 39.98/168.00 + 30.98/328.00) ÷ 3 = 0.4441, rounded to 0.4. The value advantage is concentrated in Jupiter’s bundled digital functions; Venus and Neptune face substantially cheaper functional alternatives.

Reliability & Support

\[\Large \text{0.5}\]

Jaben explicitly offers a one-year authorized-distributor warranty for Venus [16]. This is a limited warranty term, and it should not be assumed to establish identical coverage for every model or country. The manufacturer has its own website and contact channel, alongside regional retailers [4]. A manufacturer-run worldwide repair network, published repair prices, long-term parts commitments and fleet failure data could not be confirmed.

The battery-free earphone bodies have few wear mechanisms, and all three families use replaceable cables. Jupiter and Venus do contain active electronics in their USB cables, so they are not entirely passive systems. Cable replacement reduces the impact of that potential failure point, but does not establish a measured reliability record.

Rationality of Design Philosophy

\[\Large \text{0.3}\]

Structural modeling and SoundCheck testing provide a rational way to develop acoustic products [4]. Offering USB-C connectivity and interchangeable analog connections also addresses practical listening needs. The tuning philosophy nevertheless gives subjective emotional expression a central role: Venus is voiced to evoke its namesake planet’s heat, while Neptune emphasizes warmth and immersion [3][7]. These aims do not prioritize faithful reproduction alone. Separately, Venus’s cable description attributes fuller bass to copper and greater transparency to silver plating without controlled evidence of audible differences [7]. Such material-based sound claims weaken an otherwise useful engineering approach.

Driver count, wood faceplates and component materials alone do not establish how most production costs are allocated. They therefore do not demonstrate either efficient spending or waste. The simultaneous product tiers and the cosmetic Venus Divine edition likewise do not establish a trend of measured performance improvement between generations.

Advice

Jupiter is the strongest value in the current lineup when its manufacturer-specified MQA decoding, USB-C audio and call controls are required. Venus and Neptune offer different tunings and analog connection options, but cheaper measured earphones with suitable cables provide practical alternatives. Published frequency-response graphs are available; distortion, isolation and independent verification of the USB electronics remain the main evidence gaps.
